Project ideas coming up from 2nd Smart AKIS Workshop in Spain
INTIA organised on October 3 in Olite, the 2nd Smart AKIS Innovation Workshop on Smart Farming. The workshop was led by advisors from INTIA and from Iniciativas Innovadoras, both Spanish partners of Smart AKIS network and was hold in EVENA, a public laboratory for wine and grapes related quality tests.
More than 85 representatives from farmers, cooperatives, university and research centers, wineries, ag equipment suppliers and agtech startups took part on the workshop. The presentation of the Smart Farming Platform and the recap of the 1st Smart AKIS Innovation Worlshop held in March 2017, was followed by the distribution of attendants on 4 thematic work groups on the 4 main challenges identified in the previous workshop on 1) smart irrigation systems, 2) VRT ag equipment, 3) smart weeding systems and 4) soil characterization in vineyards.
The lively discussion on the work groups was recapped on a plenary session, where at least 12 project ideas coming up from the work groups were shared. These project ideas will be shared with participants and will be further developed before the 3rd and last Smart AKIS Innovation Workshop in Spain, to be held in the first quarter of 2018.
The Workshop ended up with a Field Visit to a demonstration vineyard farm near Olite, where mapping by drones, water sensors and spraying equipment were showcased.
